Frank Lampard Hopes His Player Successful in England National Team
DAILYSPORTS - Derby County manager, Frank Lampard, admits his excitement seeing his player, Mason Mount, being called-up to England national team. Lampard hopes Mount could be successful and becomes the national team player like him.
Mason Mount surprisingly called up by England national team. The news made Mount as the only non-Premier League player in the current squad.
Mason Mount is performing impressively while supporting Derby County. The loan player from Chelsea learned a lot from his manager, Frank Lampard.
Frank Lampard was the frequent England national team player when he was still active. Overall, Lampard wore The Three Lions’ jersey for 106 times.
By any chance, Frank Lampard was also a Chelsea player just like Mason Mount. Moreover, Lampard was Mount’s childhood idol.
Consequently, Frank Lampard challenged Mason Mount. The 19-year-old player admitted that he got punked by the manager before receiving the news about his inclusion to England national team.
“He said he was thinking of looking to drop me for the next game, and
maybe give me a rest. He dropped that first but then he smiled and said, ‘No, I’ve just spoken to Gareth, you’ve been selected for the seniors’,” Mason Mount said.
“He’s obviously got over 100 caps so he said to see if I can break that. He’s given me loads of advice so far.”
“It’s a long season so I’m going to learn so much of him. For me personally, learning off someone that’s done so well in the game, as a midfielder I can learn so much of him and I have done so far,” Mason Mount continued.
Mason Mount’s performance with Derby County throughout the 2018-2019 season was impressive. Mount performed in 15 matches with 5 goals and 1 assist.
